I've never had much of an eye for decorating things, but a month or two ago I really got an itch to start rearranging furniture. The first room we did was our bedroom, so now there's room for a table with my sewing machine. :) Then we moved Edison's bed into Evelyn's room (now dubbed the "kids' room") instead of having it in the dining room. I was at a loss for what to do in the living room, though, so I enlisted the help of Suzanne (my older sister). She lives in Utah, though, so it's taken many emails, pictures and phonecalls, but I now love our living room. I didn't realize before how bad it used to be, but looking back at pictures I can see how many interior design no-no's I had committed. So thank you, Suzanne, for all of your help! David and I both like the room a whole lot better now. And even though it's not completely finished (I'm still going to make some long, gold curtain panels to frame the window, as well as put some words up on the wall next to the picture of Christ) I don't want to wait to share it. So here are some before and after pictures of the living room.

Good job, Marie (and Suzanne)! I was never much of a decorator myself, either.
The room totally has a totally different feel to it.
Question: what's on the wall to the right when you walk into your living room from the outside?
I want to see a picture that shows your new rug! I'm so glad that you're happy with how the room is turning out. I'm looking forward to seeing the curtains once they're done (and maybe some throw pillows?), as well as a few other finishing touches. Now on to the dining room..... :)
Very nice! It's hard to put together the hodgepodge of sentimental items you've accumulated over the years, along with the used furniture that's all you can afford, and make it look nice, but I think you definitely accomplished it. Enjoy your beautiful new living room, as they say on decorating shows. ;)
It looks great! I can't wait to see your new curtains too -- I take it the right sewing machine finally showed up? :)
That looks fantastic! great job with the re-arrainging!
Marie - it looks great!! Hopefully I'll get to come visit soon, and see it in person. Kendy :)
