Love that mouth

Edison loves his mouth. Whether he's chewing on his fingers, thumb, a toy, someone else's finger, or the recently discovered rice cereal, he loves having things in his mouth.I can't tell if he's going to actually be a thumb-sucker, like Evelyn, because he doesn't seem to favor his thumb over anything else. But we'll see. Another new thing is that we finally decided to sleep train Edison so that he could put himself to sleep. After one night several weeks ago when he was inconsolable and cried for about 2 hours, finally falling asleep around 1 a.m., I was nervous about how he would do once we actually stopped walking, bouncing, pacing, swinging, etc. with him to put him to sleep. (Yes, it was getting pretty ridiculous.) Well, to my surprise he has done great! He only had one or two difficult times falling asleep and since then it has been pretty easy. I wish we'd done it long ago! And I've found that one thing that helps him go to sleep with little to no crying is ... giving him something to chew on. Go figure.

Yeah, Daniel doesn't really use a pacifier that much during the day, but try to put him to bed without one and you're in for a struggle. The only exception is if he happens to fall asleep nursing (which isn't often). However, he's been able to fall asleep without us "helping" since, well, forever. He definitely prefers to just be put down and rarely cries for more than a minute or two. Definitely a change from Liam.

Congrats on the sleep training. Amazing what having sleep does to a mom's patience and general well-being during the day. Do you think Edison could be teething? Oh, and I'll take this opportunity to encourage you to move that furniture this weekend! (And then send me pictures....:)

Thank goodness! Isn't it amazing how much you wish you had done it a while ago? We did the same thing with Tyler spitting out his binky in the middle of the night, and it's amazing how the nights go by uninterrupted!

He is so cute! Everything about him just melts my heart. I hope you are beginning to feel like a new person now that you are getting a little more rest.
